Parks & Trails
The city of Everett owns and operates 32 parks ranging from neighborhood playgrounds to waterfront attractions. The Everett Parks Department, as well as other organizations, offer a multitude of programs for virtually any taste and participants of all ages.
Forest Park's 110 acres provide a swim center, recreation hall and animal farm/petting zoo. Other park programs include the popular summer ferry run to Jetty Island, just off the Everett waterfront. The two-mile-long island offers sandy beaches and grass-covered upland dunes that are home to a surprising number of mammal and bird species. A visit to the island can include a 45-minute nature walk with park rangers, as an introduction to the many interesting wildlife and plants that call Jetty Island home.
Narbeck Wetland Sanctuary, including an interpretative center designed to look like a beaver lodge, provides a panoramic view of a 19-acre wetland, home to heron, blackbirds, and a wide variety of other wildlife. Many other local parks include water access, hiking trails and a wide variety of other options for those looking for activities and those looking for relaxation.
Several parks also play host to youth sports programs such as Little League baseball, soccer, basketball, football, softball and more. Recently, the new Phil Johnson Little League baseball and girls softball complex was opened on 13 acres provided by CSR-Associated. The project was substantially funded by a $2 million donation from the Phil L. Johnson Foundation trust.
Outdoor Activities Mountain ranges, wilderness areas, national forests and parks cover more than half of Snohomish County. Residents live just minutes away from the rugged snow-covered Cascade Mountain Range, the waters of the Puget Sound, and dozens of lakes and rivers. Activities include boating, downhill and cross-country skiing, camping, and much more.
Golfers enjoy some of the most scenic?and challenging?courses in the Northwest. Snohomish County is home to 14 public and two private golf courses.
